How To Raise Your Regressor

Chapter 137 - Strange Name

Chapter 137 - Strange Name

"I\'m Samur, the R&D Head of the New Dawn Guild. Pleased to make your acquaintance," I greeted the red-haired woman as I extended my hand towards her.

"I\'m Jennifer Palatine, the Guild Master of Old Blood," she smiled and shook my hand. "The pleasure is all mine."

"Oh my, you\'re a big shot."

"Nothing of that sort," her smile didn\'t waver; she\'s probably used to such flattery. "Have we met somewhere before? You seem… familiar," she tilted her head a bit.

Hmm, seems like this woman has been bestowed with an excellent memory. She must eat a lot of almonds.

I mean, we saw each other only for a brief moment.

Well, we did have some heated pre-marital eye contact for some moments, but I doubt that;s enough to make her remember someone so unremarkable.

"Yes. I was there at the LaDavirci."

LaDavirci.

Pretty strange name for a restaurant, if I say so myself.

It\'s like the one who named it hadn\'t slept for 7 days and had just snorted 47 lines of crack then named the restaurant after the sound coming from his constipated stomach.

Did that even make any sense? I guess being chopped up into pieces is not healthy for you. Who would have thought?

The name doesn\'t make any sense either.

The closest word I can think of is Ladavir, which is a district in Nepal.

Another is Davirci from a language that has absolutely no connection with the language spoken in this world or Earth, and it literally means \'Pig\'s bowels\'.

So yea, the restaurant owner should probably hire someone to rebrand his shop, by which I mean he should just take a dart board with letters scrambled on it, throw darts at it and use the result.

He\'ll probably have a better name that way.

Anyway, enough dissing a poor restaurant owner just because I\'m bored.

Let\'s move on to more productive things, like conducting an experiment through which I determine how much alcohol a 12-year-old child can drink before he dies of alcohol poisoning.

And the experiment subject will be the man, the myth, the legend, the one and only First Being inhabiting the body of a 12-year-old child.

"Ahh," Jennifer nodded. "So, it was you that day."

"Yes. I\'m surprised you remembered me."

No wonder she\'s the leader of her guild.

"Your gaze was just so passionate. It would be difficult for any woman to forget you," she giggled.

Wut?

"What?" Azell, who had been quietly sipping his champagne, looked at me, his eyes asking what Jennifer was talking about.

I sure have become proficient at reading the eyes of others.

"So that\'s what you were doing that day, hmmm," Neia scowled at me.

"That\'s a misunderstanding. You simply happened to be in the general direction I was looking in."

I was just looking out the window behind her while thinking of useless things.

So let\'s try correcting these wankers, though if we take a look at their past records, they\'re probably going to ignore me like I was the 11th child in a poor family living in the Middle Ages.

And you know what? I would be perfectly fine with that if their ignorance would lead to my untimely death.

However, these fuckers would do nothing more than giving me judgemental stares, and because looks cannot kill, I\'ll stay alive.

F.

"That\'s what every man says after being caught."

Huh, to think the first to ignore my statement would be Jennifer. I didn\'t know that she was a probationary member of the New Dawn Guild. Wow.

That oddly makes more sense than expected, now that I think about it.

Like, what if she was a mole, or even worse, a puppet created and planted by Azell in order to have full control over the Players Faction?

The other possibility is that they are partners working together. It\'s possible that they knew each other from their time on Earth so they trust each other a lot.

And because he has faith in her, after regressing, Azell told Jennifer everything that is going to happen in the future. She believed him because \'trust\', and so, they decided to work together and save the world.

Or maybe, both of them are Regressors.

While the probability of there being multiple Regressors in a single timeline is extremely low, it is not zero.

So they are working to unify the world against the threat of the Aggressors, with Jennifer handling the Players and Azell handling the Royal faction.

The final possibility is that I\'m just making this shit up because I have nothing better to do, but let\'s ignore it like, you guessed it, a family ignores its 11th child in the Middle Ages.

I might have to look into her later.

"Well, if that\'s what you want to believe, please be my guest" I shrugged.

I have no way of proving to her that I was not staring at her because I like her booty or something. I\'m not your average man who cannot help himself from staring when he sees an incredibly beautiful woman on the street.

Well, to be honest I do have some ways, but Jennifer\'s not worth the trouble.

In other words, I have no way of proving my innocence that doesn\'t exceed the benefits of doing so.

"Aww, you\'re no fun," Jennifer giggled with a small sigh.

"I have always been told that I\'m no fun at parties."

That\'s why I was never invited to any parties.

Sed.

Haha, just kidding, it\'s because I was locked up in a motherfucking tower because my family believed I was cursed and thought I would one day bring ruin to this world.

Oh fuck, I have a family that would probably go to any lengths to kill me. I almost forgot about it.

Which also reminds me that I left the job of torturing the hunter leader to make sure that his report would say I\'m dead.

I had faith in these wankers at that time, but after actually living with them, I think it would be safe to assume that these guys fucked it up one way or the other.

Which means I have another opportunity to die a pretty horrific death.

Noice.
